George Mason University offers a wide range of programmes for international students wishing to gain a degree in the USA, ranging from Business to Performing Arts. Located in Fairfax, Virginia, students benefit from learning in a supportive and multicultural community during their time at the institution.
The university boasts small class sizes, allowing for pupils to have plenty of one-on-one time with their teachers and lecturers. Mason is proud of its experienced and dedicated teaching staff, many of whom are experts in their field, and have experienced studying abroad themselves.
Mason students can choose to live at the Mason Global Centre – a state-of-the-art halls of residence welcoming over 270 American and International students. Facilities on-site include a full-service dining hall and several lounges for students to go and socialise. Pupils are also close by to a 24-hour Starbucks and a fitness centre.
The university campus is just 45 minutes away from the country’s capital, Washington, DC. The city offers plenty to do and see away from the classroom, being home to world-famous museums, art galleries, national parks, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the National Harbour. There are also plenty of restaurants and supermarkets selling cuisine from all over the world – giving international students a bit of ‘home’ away from home.
Facilities & Services
Mason has three campuses in Fairfax, Arlington and Prince William Counties in Virginia and an international campus in Songdo, Korea.
The Fairfax campus is the largest campus and consists of 677 wooded acres in a suburban neighbourhood outside of Washington, DC. It is also home to the EagleBank Arena where numerous sporting and entertainment events take place each year.
Its Arlington campus is located near Washington, DC and houses its School of Law, the School of Policy, Government and International Affairs, and the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
The Prince William County campus features a state-of-the-art Biomedical Research Laboratory which houses the recently launched Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research.
And Mason is not done growing. As its faculty and study body grow, students will see advancements in academic facilities and state-of-the-art technology.
Mason has many resources to help students with their studies including a Learning Resource Centre which offers one-on-one tutoring in English and academic subjects, as well as a Math Tutoring Centre and Writing Centre. They also offer a Career Services Centre where students can develop job-hunting skills, attend job and internship fairs and practice their interviewing skills.
Mason has been ranked the 12th Safest Campus in the United States by the National Council for Home Safety and Security (2017). It makes the safety of its students its top priority and has established multiple resources to help its students feel safe including campus security patrols twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Its on-campus police department is staffed by 135 full and part-time personnel. If students ever feel unsafe, officers can escort students from their classes, resident halls and around campus
